Xypex also conforms to AS 1478.1 as a type SN Special Purpose Admixture and is certified environmentally preferable.

A history of successful projects with Zoos Victoria meant Xypex Australia was entrusted to provide waterproofing solutions for their new Hippo enclosure at Werribee Open Range Zoo.
The diverse nature of the project, coupled with Melbourne’s limited water resources, required Xypex to provide specialist concrete waterproofing products, concrete repair materials, superior technical support, as well as Rawell Pre-Hydrated Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL).
What were grass paddocks early in 2005 have now been transformed into an enclosure incorporating separate waterholes with beach areas, sunken barge, filtering reed beds, recreational areas as well as a river crossing for the Zoo’s fleet of buses. The $6.5 million project spans over three hectares, and is home to Kubu River Hippos.
The enclosure’s concrete pools, measuring 170 metres long x 10 - 15 metres wide, and up to 3 metres deep, were dosed with Xypex Admix C-1000 NF, ensuring long term protection and waterproofing integrity. Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was chosen for the project because of the unique nature of the Xypex crystal, which waterproofs, protects and improves concrete structures. Xypex Admix C-1000 NF forms a non-soluble crystalline formation throughout the concrete matrix which seals the concrete and prevents moisture ingress. Xypex has been thoroughly tested for permeability, chemical resistance, compressive strength, freeze-thaw durability and potable water. Xypex also conforms to AS 1478.1 as a type SN Special Purpose Admixture and is certified environmentally preferable.
Additionally, Xypex Megamix I and Megamix II were utilised for spillway repair leaks, which also required the application of Xypex Concentrate, Xycrylic Admix and Xypex Patch'n Plug.
