Xypex Chemical Corporation supports building rating systems such as LEED. We are committed to energy efficiency, material selection, minimizing site impact, and VOC reduction. Including Xypex in the LEED-certified building project can help earn LEED credits in the categories of Material & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation & Design Process.
Material & Labor Reduction
Xypex Crystalline Waterproofing can be used as a concrete admixture, thus eliminating the labor required to install membranes or coatings and significantly lowering costs and material requirements.
Atmospheric CO2 Reduction
Because cement production substantially contributes to atmospheric CO2, finding ways to reduce cement contribution is critical. Xypex Admix waterproofing admixture is an effective waterproofing product in concrete with high-volume SCMs. This ensures Xypex effectiveness in low-CO2 concrete mix designs.
Recycling Concrete
Concrete waterproofed with Xypex crystalline products (Admix, Coating or Dry-Shake) are fully recyclable, whereas concrete with an adhered membrane cannot be recycled.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Xypex Crystalline Waterproofing contains no VOCs, unlike some fluid applied membranes. Xypex products are Red List compliant and we have HPDs available.
Permanent Solution
Unlike membranes and other surface coatings, Xypex Crystalline Waterproofing is integral within the concrete and cannot be punctured or damaged during construction or backfilling and does not deteriorate over time.

Construction Waste Management
Divert construction, demolition and land-clearing debris from disposal in landfills and incinerators. Redirect recyclable recovered resources back to the manufacturing process. Xypex packaging is 100% recyclable and can be included in the Waste Management Plan under recyclables.

Regional Materials 10% (up to 20%) Extracted, Processed & Manufactured Regionally (1 or 2 Point(s))
Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within 500 miles of the project, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation. Xypex products are manufactured in Richmond, BC, Canada.
Indoor Environmental Quality
EQ Credit 4.2
Low Emitting Materials Paints and Coatings (1 Point)
Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants. Xypex products contain zero VOCs.
