Al Salha Water Treatment Plant

Omdurman, Sudan

The Al Salha Water Treatment Plant in Omdurman, Sudan,  required an effective solution to waterproof and protect the below-grade concrete treatment tanks.
The project engineers addressed this by selecting Xypex Concentrate for its outstanding waterproofing capabilities, self-healing properties, and ability to be applied to either the positive or negative sides of structures.

Xypex Concentrate was applied to the interior surface of the treatment tanks spanning 2,289 m². Xypex Concentrate penetrates into the concrete where it chemically reacts, forming an insoluble crystalline structure that seals micro-cracks and capillaries, preventing water ingress. The Xypex crystalline also increases the concrete’s chemical resistance by significantly reducing the ingress of deterioration causing substances like chlorides and sulphates.

In collaboration with PGM Engineering Services Co. Ltd, the Khartoum State Water Corporation opted for the unique Xypex Crystalline Technology for a robust waterproofing solution. The application of Xypex Concentrate provided permanent protection against water infiltration and exfiltration, ensuring the structural integrity of the treatment tanks at the Al Salha Water Treatment Plant. This successful implementation underscores the efficacy of Xypex products in critical infrastructure projects.
