The project involved new reinforced concrete works associated with a municipal reservoir. Construction was carried out under a constrained schedule, winter conditions, and limited budget resources. These factors required a waterproofing solution that could be integrated directly into the concrete without additional installation steps, while still providing durable protection against water ingress and long-term performance requirements.

Xypex Admix C-500 NF crystalline waterproofing admixture was specified and added to the concrete at the time of batching. Crystalline technology reacts with moisture and cement hydration by-products to form insoluble crystals that reduce concrete permeability and provide permanent waterproofing. The integral approach simplified construction sequencing, reduced on site labor, minimized future maintenance requirements, and enhanced the long-term durability of the municipal drinking water reservoir.
