Nampa Wastewater Treatment Plant Headworks Replacement
The City of Nampa undertook replacement of the concrete headworks infrastructure at the Nampa Wastewater Treatment Plant to modernize influent handling and improve long-term system reliability. The project includes the construction of a new concrete headworks facility incorporating influent pumping, screening, grit removal, and associated process infrastructure.
The integral approach provides waterproofing and antimicrobial protection throughout the concrete section while reducing construction complexity and schedule impacts. The change also eliminated the long-term maintenance requirements typically associated with coatings and liners. Xypex Bio-San was incorporated into more than 2,000 cubic yards of concrete placed for wastewater containing structures. Xypex Patch’n Plug and Xypex Concentrate were applied for tie hole, joint, and crack repairs. The use of Xypex Bio-San provided permanent waterproofing and corrosion protection while delivering both immediate cost savings and long-term lifecycle benefits. The selected solution supports durable performance and reduced maintenance for critical wastewater infrastructure serving the City of Nampa.

ConcentrateApplied as a cementitious slurry to the surface of existing above or below-grade structures to waterproof and protect the concrete against high hydrostatic pressure and aggressive environments.
Formulated as a crystalline, fast-setting hydraulic cement compound for concrete patching and repair. It stops flowing water in seconds and is used to seal cracks, fill tie-holes and other defects in concrete.
A uniquely designed admixture for integral, long-term protection of concrete in harsh sewage conditions with levels of H2S that cause microbial induced corrosion (MIC). Bio-San combines potent antimicrobial protection along with the unique crystalline technology of the Xypex Admix C-Series.
