Renovation and Upgrading of the Bardy pool

Quebec, Canada

The Réfection et mise aux normes de la piscine Bardy (Rehabilitation and standard’s upgrade) project in Québec aimed to modernize and upgrade the existing municipal pool to meet current safety, hygiene, and accessibility standards. A key challenge was ensuring the long-term waterproofing and protection of the concrete structure, which was exposed to constant water and chemicals. To address this issue, Xypex Admix C-500 was added directly to the concrete mix during the batching process.

This integral crystalline waterproofing solution enabled the concrete to resist water penetration by forming insoluble crystals within its capillary pores and microcracks. The self-healing properties of Xypex Admix C-500 further ensured that minor cracking over time would not compromise the structure. Its resistance to hydrostatic pressure, chlorides, and chemical attack made it ideal for the pool environment. Overall, Xypex Admix C-500 enhanced the project’s durability and supported the long-term performance of this key community facility. The solution was cost- and time-efficient, streamlining the construction process. Xypex played a crucial role in delivering a robust and sustainable result for this important community facility.
