Reconstruction work on the Quarante-Arpents II pumping station in Terrebonne

The City of Terrebonne, Quebec, recently modernized its infrastructure with a new water treatment plant to improve water quality. To ensure long-term durability in harsh sewage environments with high H₂S levels that cause microbial-induced corrosion (MIC), the project incorporated Xypex Bio-San—a specialized admixture designed for integral concrete protection.

Renovation and Upgrading of the Bardy Pool

The Bardy Pool rehabilitation project in Québec upgraded the municipal pool to meet modern safety, hygiene, and accessibility standards. To ensure long-term waterproofing and durability in a chemically aggressive environment, Xypex Admix C-500 was added to the concrete mix. This integral crystalline solution protects against water penetration, hydrostatic pressure, and chemical attack while offering self-healing properties for minor cracks. The result: a cost-effective, sustainable solution that enhances the pool’s performance and longevity.

Preventing Freeze-Thaw Damage

Xypex products prevent freeze-thaw damage in concrete by forming a permanent, non-soluble crystalline structure that blocks water ingress, the primary cause of such damage. This crystalline technology seals capillaries and microcracks, preventing moisture-induced expansion during freezing and thereby increasing the concrete’s durability and lifespan. Unlike traditional membranes, Xypex becomes an integral part of the concrete, offering long-term protection, self-sealing capabilities, and versatility across various cold-climate applications, all while being non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Hearst Castle Neptune Pool - San Luis Obispo County, California, USA

The iconic 345,000-gallon Neptune Pool at Hearst Castle, California, leaked for most of its 90-year history. During the 2014 drought, a four-year, $10 million restoration began, including new filtration systems, leak repairs, and waterproofing. Xypex Crystalline Technology played a key role—patching defective concrete, applying Xypex Concentrate, and creating a permanent crystalline seal within the concrete. Today, the pool is leak-free for the first time, preserving this historic landmark for over 750,000 annual visitors.
