Xypex 2025 International Best Projects

The results of the Xypex 2026 International Best Projects program are in. This year’s winning projects span infrastructure, general construction, water and wastewater, and small-scale applications across Latin America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Each recognized project demonstrates what crystalline waterproofing technology can achieve when specified and applied with precision.

Data Centers: Why Cooling Tower Basin Waterproofing Cannot Be an Afterthought

Data centers run around the clock, and so do their cooling systems. Large below-grade concrete basins circulate and store the water that keeps servers from overheating, but concrete is porous, hydrostatic pressure is relentless, and a leak does not just mean water loss. It can mean chemistry instability, environmental compliance risk, and in a sector where a single outage can exceed $1 million in costs, a structural problem that should have been solved at the batching stage. Xypex crystalline technology addresses this from within the concrete itself, forming a permanent, non-soluble matrix that resists water penetration in both directions and cannot peel, delaminate, or be bypassed at joints and penetrations.

Potable Water Infrastructure: Plateau Potable Water Reservoir, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Canada

Protecting a potable water reservoir requires waterproofing that is NSF 61 certified, chemically inert, and durable under sustained hydrostatic pressure without future intervention.

Xypex Admix C-500 was added directly to the concrete batch, forming a permanent crystalline structure within the capillary network. No membranes, no coatings, and a concrete matrix that continues to heal micro-cracks over time.

Technical Insight: Xypex Injection Techniques for Concrete Repair

Not every concrete defect requires full removal and replacement. Honeycombing, wide shrinkage cracks, and loose wall-to-slab interfaces can all be addressed by injecting Xypex chemistry directly into the affected area through grout ports. The crystalline grout reacts with moisture to form non-soluble crystals that restore waterproof integrity from within, without the disruption and cost of full section removal. Field-validated across multiple markets, including India.

Wastewater Resilience: Pendleton-Clemson Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, South Carolina, USA

Hydrogen sulfide gas in wastewater environments converts to sulfuric acid at the concrete surface, driving microbial induced corrosion that can compromise structures well before their design life.

Xypex Bio-San was incorporated directly into the concrete for the new screening structure and pump station. It combines crystalline waterproofing with an integral antimicrobial agent that inhibits acid-producing bacteria, eliminating the need for applied liners or coatings.

Coastal Groundwater Challenge: Merivälja 33 Medical Centre, Estonia

The M33 medical centre sits at the edge of a pine forest immediately adjacent to the Baltic Sea. High coastal groundwater levels created significant hydrostatic pressure against the underground parking structure.

Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was selected for the floor slab, forming a non-soluble crystalline structure throughout the full concrete depth. All construction joint details were custom designed to Xypex system requirements, with on-site supervision provided throughout.
