Advanced Strategies in MIC Mitigation for Wastewater Infrastructure
Crystalline Chemical Resistance and Antimicrobial Solutions

This course focuses on the groundbreaking integration of two concrete protection technologies for wastewater infrastructure: crystalline and antimicrobial. Participants will explore how these technologies work in tandem to not only to waterproof, but also to enhance the chemical resistance of concrete and to prevent microbial-induced corrosion (MIC), leading to a significant reduction in maintenance costs and a substantial increase in the service life of concrete structures within wastewater environments.
Course Objectives
Participants will conclude this course understanding:
- The chemical attack against concrete.
- The microbial-induced corrosion (MIC) process.
- How the Xypex Bio-San provides waterproofing, enhanced chemical resistance and prevents MIC.
- Insights into the long-term economic and operational benefits of implementing this advanced durability technique in the construction and rehabilitation of wastewater systems.
Who Should Enroll
This course is tailored for civil engineers, structural engineers, and infrastructure specialists engaged in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of wastewater treatment facilities who are seeking to leverage advanced technologies for improved infrastructure durability.
