Xypex is a unique chemical treatment for the waterproofing, protection and repair of concrete.
XYPEX React consists of cement, sand and active proprietary chemicals specially designed to compliment Xypex Admix to accelerate static crack healing in critical applications. It is applied as a cementitious slurry to the pre-saturated surface of cracks less than 0.5 mm in above and below-grade structures. The active chemicals are designed to diffuse into the substrate and react with Xypex Admix to cause a catalytic reaction. This reaction generates accelerates Xypex’s proven performance for projects that require an accelerated time line for crack healing, permanently sealing the concrete and preventing the penetration of water and other liquids from any direction, even under high hydrostatic pressure.
Surface-applied crystalline crack-healing accelerator
Works with Xypex Admix to accelerate crack sealing
Performance accelerator within Xypex system
Not a standalone waterproofing solution
Xypex React is available in 50 lb. (22.7 kg) and 44.1 lb. (20 kg) pails.
For normal surface conditions, the coverage rate for each Xypex coat is 6 – 7.2 sq. ft./lb.
Xypex products must be stored dry at a minimum temperature of 45°F (7°C). Shelf life is two years when properly stored.
Xypex React is a surface-applied crack-healing accelerator designed to work specifically with Xypex Admix. It accelerates the crystalline reaction at cracks, enabling faster sealing of static cracks up to 0.5 mm, rather than acting as a primary waterproofing system.
No. React is complementary, not a replacement. It enhances Admix performance by accelerating crack healing but relies on the crystalline system already present in the concrete.
React is designed for:
Larger or leaking cracks must be repaired first using standard Xypex repair methods.
Primarily applied on the positive side (water-pressure side) for best performance, especially under hydrostatic pressure conditions.
React’s active chemicals diffuse into the concrete and react with Admix to trigger a catalytic crystalline growth, accelerating crack sealing and blocking water pathways permanently.
React is designed to accelerate the natural crack-healing process, significantly reducing timelines and seals cracks up to 50% faster, compared to Admix alone. Exact timing depends on conditions such as moisture availability and crack size.
The surface must be:
Proper prep is critical for performance.
No. The concrete must be in SSD condition. Water is required to activate the crystalline reaction and allow penetration into the concrete matrix.
React is ideal for:
React is optimal for any environment where you want the Admix to seal faster. It performs under hydrostatic pressure and aggressive chemical exposure.
Unlike membranes:
This results in longer-term durability and reduced maintenance.
