I am in the process of designing a 16,000 gallons Koi pond.  The pond will be six feet deep and one side wall will be completely above ground.  I intend on building a block wall with Xypex admix in the mortar and concrete fill and then having the interior shot with gunite.

My question is can Xypex Admix be directly mixed with gunite as it is shot or is it better to surface coat the gunite?  Or both?

Xypex can be used in both wet mix and dry mix (gunite) shotcrete.

The difficult aspect of its use in dry mix is how it is
introduced.  In wet mix the Xypex admix
can be introduced during the batching process of the concrete.  In dry mix the Xypex needs to be somehow
introduced into the blend of materials coming down the hose to the nozzle.  Few on site gunite equipment setups have the
ability to meter in a 1% - 3% mix of a dry powder.
