Hi, my basement wall started leaking in a few places after heavy rains. I have an old foundation and the concrete is very course exposed aggregate it also has a worn out coating on it (greenish). after talking to several people i applied a coat of xypex but i am worried that it is too rough. Should i finish the wall with a concrete product first?

From a Xypex Crystalline standpoint it does not matter how uneven the concrete is.  The surface must be clean, have not coatings or other covering on it and must have an open pored sandy type of texture.  If the surface is rougher than this it is still fine, an open pored texture is really the minimum.  Clearly if the surface is of an exposed aggregate nature it will be “open pored”.  It must then be saturated surface dry.

There are a number of videos on you tube that will show you how to install Xypex coatings.  Some will show a close up of the concrete surface.

I trust that this answers your questions on this issue.  If not please call and we can discuss.

Hi, my project is in Takapuna, Auckland. There is minor leakage through the basement garage block wall and I think Xypex might halt it. Where can I buy the product and do you have specialist applicators who I could employ to do the job? Bob

In New Zealand, our distributor is Demden Limited.  Their phone number is 64-7-575-5410.

They will be best for answering your questions in terms of where to buy and who can install for you.
